As Swim.com continues to work on updating and fine-tuning the world’s most advanced swim tracking app, the wearable Suunto brand is a seamless integration into Swim.com’s mission.
About a month ago, the Swim.com team announced its full integration with Suunto watches. With this integration, Suunto users will have their workouts automatically ingested through Swim.com.
Swim.com enhances the swimming experience with data-driven features such as leaderboards, in-depth swim analysis and proprietary swim tracking algorithms that run on the Apple Watch, Samsung Wearables and WearOS-compatible devices. Suunto is one of the most known multisport watch brands around the world.
“Suunto is a great brand that builds great multisport devices”, said John Anthony, President of Swim.com. “Our decision to integrate with Suunto was based on several factors including our customer requests to see their Suunto swims on Swim.com and our improving penetration in the Europe and Asian markets. I also believe Suunto has built a market-leading WearOS smart sports watch with the release of the Suunto 7.”
With this integration, Swim.com and Suunto are also providing swimmers with more options to track their open water swims. “We believe open water participation is going to grow in popularity due to the Covid-19 pandemic and the pressure it is putting on pool swimming”, said John Anthony. We believe the sport of open water swimming is growing in popularity due to the global pandemic.
“Our goal is to provide the best possible solution for the athletes using Suunto products. Swimming is one of the top activities done with Suunto. Swim.com has demonstrated thoughtful leadership with their unique platform and has created a global interest among the swimming community. With the compatibility can give Suunto fans the Swim.com toolset and it truly makes Suunto watch a perfect companion in open water and in the pool.” said Janne Kallio, Head of Partner Product management from Suunto
Both Swim.com and Suunto aim to provide the necessary tools and opportunities for users to continue their training plans – whether that be open water swimming or cross training.
Suunto provides a catalog of open water swimming venues through Suunto Heatmaps feature, which will help Swim.com users locate safe spaces to practice open water swimming. Swim.com offers Suunto users in-depth analysis of every swim and every stroke. Features like stroke count, SWOLF, individual length splits, leaderboards, pool finder and much more.
As we nurture this partnership, Swim.com and Suunto look forward to providing our intersecting communities with helpful resources for open water swimming including safety. We are keeping safety at the forefront of our minds and decisions as open water swimming becomes more of an interest and necessity in the global swimming community.
About Suunto: We stand for adventure. Pioneering exploration has been in our DNA since 1936, when Finnish orienteer Tuomas Vohlonen set out to create a more accurate compass, and subsequently invented a new method for manufacturing liquid‐filled compasses. Today Suunto is at the forefront of design and innovation for sports watches, dive computers and instruments used by adventurers all over the globe.
Eighty-four years removed from our founding, we are proud that Suunto products can take a beating, but are also designed with an everyday aesthetic that reflects our Nordic identity. Suunto’s headquarters and factory are still in Finland. We are part of Amer Sports along with sister brands Salomon, Arc’teryx, Peak Performance, Atomic, Wilson and Precor. www.suunto.com
I connected my Suunto and swim.com accounts as soon as Suunto notified me that was possible. I was hoping that all of my past swims from my Suunto account would be pulled into my swim.com account, but it’s been several days and that hasn’t happened yet. I’m guessing only new swims will show up. Is that right? Is there any way to manually pull in all of my previous swims from Suunto?
Hi Phillip – Thanks for using Swim.com! Only new swims, from the date you connected your accounts, will be uploaded to Swim.com. Alternatively, if you wish to have your previous swims on Swim.com, you can manually upload any open water swim from any date on the mobile app.
See this Quick Tip video on how to do so – We hope this helps! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JeV1N4ijXOo
Hello, are there specific models that allow for open water tracking? My pool has severely restricted usage so I’m going to transition to open water and am going to purchase a device to track – decided on Suunto.
The uploaded swims are openwater only?
Hi Jonathon – Both pool and open water swims should be uploaded to Swim.com. Are you experiencing issues with pool swims? If so, let us know!
