Workout of the Week: I think, Therefore I.M. 💭

Today’s WoW is all about the IM.  Use the 200 drills to get that stroke form perfected then really get those legs moving for the 100 kick of each stroke.  You’ll finish up with a best effort 200 IM as you put everything together.  

Focus on perfect form on your drills then FAST kicking on the 100s! Finish up with a strong and fast IM! Be sure to set your watch to Drill Mode when the workout calls for any Drill or Kick!

Warm up:

  • 400 choice @ :20 rest
  • 12×25 @ :30
    • “Speed Play”
    • Reminder: speed play is just a fancy term for, well, playing around with your speed. Use any variation of easy/fast here, but we like doing Speed Play like this…
    • #1 = Easy/Fast, #2 = Fast/Easy, #3 = All Easy, #4 = All Fast

Main SetFocus on perfect form on your drills then FAST kicking on the 100s!  Finish up with a strong and fast IM!

    • IM drill 
  • 100 kick @ 2:30
    • FAST flutter kick
  •  200 Drill @ :20 rest
    • IM drill
  • 100 kick @ 2:30
    • FAST breaststroke kick
  •  200 Drill @ :20 rest
    • IM drill
  • 100 kick @ 2:30
    • FAST back kick
  •  200 Drill @ :20 rest
    • IM drill
  • 100 kick @ 2:30
    • FAST fly kick
  • 1:00 rest
  • 200 IM @ 4:00
    • strong and FAST, give it your best effort!!!

  1. I like the workout but the one suggestion I have is to keep the workout to one page. I typically print the workout and stick it to the side of the pool for reference. There’s lots of wasted space in how it’s formatted. And for us older folks, larger print would be nice.

    Keep up the great work.
