Introducing the Swim.com Team: Jason Tillotson

At Swim.com, we aim to foster a close and dynamic relationship with our users. This includes providing insight on the ins and outs of the work we do, shedding light on the nitty-gritty of the app’s inner-workings and, in this case, showcasing members of our team!

We’ve just recently welcomed Jason Tillotson to the Swim.com team by virtue of his position as the Marketing Manager. Tillotson is a young gun who is eager to learn from and grow the Swim.com brand to its fullest potential. At just 22 years old, Tillotson is the youngest member of the Swim.com team. Despite his age, Tillotson brings years of swimming, coaching and marketing knowledge to the table. We’re thrilled to have him on board!

We took the time to sit down with Tillotson to get to know his background, how he ended up at Swim.com and more. See below for the full interview!

Q: Tell us a little bit about yourself, Jason.

A: I’m a recent graduate of American University’s School of Communication and Kogod School of Business – I swam at American as well, which put a cap on my 12 year-long swimming career. I started swimming when I was seven years old in Cape Coral, FL –  a small town on Florida’s gulf coast. So, from a very young age I was always surrounded by water.

Q: What is your favorite aspect of the sport of swimming?

A: I enjoy the tranquility of it – I think that’s why my favorite, I guess, “sub-sport” of swimming is open water & marathon swimming because, when it’s just you and the water out there, you develop a sense of solitude and independence, while at the same time accepting the truth that the water is in control.

Q: What drew you to work at Swim.com?

A: I think being a competitive swimmer my whole life, I had the opportunity to be immersed in the sport from all angles – my mother was a swim coach, my coach growing up was, for lack of a better term, a swimming historian and I think I really latched on to the knowledge I had around me and allowed the sport to take a major constructive role in shaping my identity. I truly don’t know where I’d be without swimming, so when I discovered Swim.com’s charge in the swim tracking market and the “lead your lane” mantra, it really hit home and allowed me to realize I could be a part of something bigger than myself and my own career.

Q: What are you most looking forward to in your role here?

A: I am most looking forward to connecting with the Swim.com community on a deep level. I think we have an immense opportunity to socialize the swimming world and bring everyone who enjoys swimming, together in one app.  Between our social media channels, leaderboards, clubs and workouts, swimming data and swimming content have never been more shareable – we at Swim.com, have an incredible opportunity and responsibility to bring people together.

We’re stoked to have Jason on-board here at Swim.com. His elite swimming background, combined with his unparalleled knowledge and passion for the sport will undoubtedly take Swim.com to new heights as we continue to fine-tune the best possible swimming app in the world!
